Why Recycle Used Carpet?
Recycling 120 yards of carpet is the equivalent to:
- Planting 41 trees grown for 10 years
- Saving 54 gallons of crude oil
- Saving 1.6 tons of greenhouse gases
- Saving the CO2 from propane barbecues
Our Company has chosen to participate in a carpet and under pad recycling program….WHY?
Because it’s the right thing to do!
Every yard of carpet or under pad that is removed from your house or business will be 100% diverted from landfill or recycled back into new products.

- 95% of used carpet goes to landfill
- Carpet is primarily made of plastic and does not biodegrade
- Every yard of carpet that has ever been put into landfill since carpet started to be made from synthetic fiber is still in landfill
- Carpet can be recycled
- Using the latest in Spectrophotometer technology, Aspera sorts all the carpet they collect ensuring that the highest test yielding plastics are diverted to processors that reintroduce the raw materials back into the flooring industry. Creating a truly sustainable and closed loop recycling process

Landfill is becoming a problem!
- Carpet currently makes up almost 4% of total landfill volume in North America
- There are more than 6.5 billion pounds of carpet going to landfill in North America each year. That's enough carpet to cover more than 5400 square km or the size of Prince Edward Island every year.
- If we don't do something now, what are we leaving behind for future generations?
- Carpet has the second highest positive Green House Gases(GHG) emission impact at 1.96 MTLE/ton. Only aluminum cans at 3.70 have a higher rating, carpet is almost twice as high as paper and cardboard.
